Two-time CW Program Game Changer Geoff Dubiski recently celebrated 30 years in the contingent workforce space. “Someone once told me if I could make it three years in the industry, I’d be hooked for life,” he laughs. Today, Dubiski leads contingent workforce strategy and planning at Intuitive Surgical, a global technology leader in minimally invasive care and a pioneer of robotic-assisted surgery.
Intuitive’s contingent workforce program oversees a workforce of up to 1,200, filling around 2,500 positions a year with an annual spend of close to $110 million. The program hires for all areas of the business spanning the US, Mexico and India — with countries in EMEA and APAC to join in the near future.
In the last year, changes implemented by Dubiski and his team reduced manufacturing and logistics attrition by 36%, saving 25,000 training hours and over $600,000. They also introduced robot process automation to deliver real-time headcount figures for contingent workers. The AI-powered global monitoring bot generates a weekly report based on badge and security data, saving between six and eight weeks of a full-time equivalent’s time annually.
In collaboration with IT, risk, physical security and the Intuitive tax team, Dubiski has been preparing to shift a model that will see the definition of “contingent workforce” expand to an “extended workforce.” Dubiski and his colleagues have developed five globally harmonized engagement types — each with its own framework — to support the initiative.
Looking ahead, Dubiski is working to integrate a new human capital management system with its vendor management system, which he expects will yield visibility to full talent capacity and cost and create stronger workforce and financial planning for the organization.
