After nearly 18 years in the staffing industry, Emmanuel “Manny” Johnson joined Siemens in 2020 with the goal of rebuilding and optimizing the technology company’s statement-of-work program. He created a seamless end-to-end workflow, bringing consistency across all business lines. Johnson spearheaded the centralization of the entire process, from sourcing to procurement to onboarding, through the implementation of a vendor management system.
“We are now able to better understand where we’re buying from, identify cost-saving opportunities and offer a simplified onboarding process for contingent workers with a single point of contact,” Johnson says. His contributions have increased SOW spend running through the program by over 1,500% over the past four years, with the total number of SOWs rising by 42%. The company is also forecasting an additional spend increase of 25% in 2024.
In 2022, Johnson’s role was expanded to oversee governance and client relationship management as the Flex-Force team lead, SOW and program demand manager. In this position, he enhances the relationships with internal customers, managed service provider and vendor management system partners, and the suppliers within the program.
He also leads a team to develop and implement the strategy of the $200 million contingent workforce program at Siemens. In the coming years, his team will focus on expanding its direct sourcing pipeline and modernizing its processes, rate structure and program tools while continuing to update the utilization of its vendor management system based on hiring manager feedback.
