“We’re that operations engine behind the [talent acquisition] delivery team,” Allen Chilson says, describing the department he leads at Danaher, a science and technology provider across life sciences and diagnostics. Responsible for the strategy, process and relationship management for Danaher’s use of search firms, recruitment process outsourcers and managed service providers globally, Chilson brings around 20 years of contingent workforce management experience to his role.

Danaher’s MSP program currently supports 10 of Danaher’s operating companies worldwide. However, in the next 12 to 18 months, the program’s global footprint is set to grow even larger under Chilson’s leadership. He and his team have been hard at work implementing a centralized TA model across Danaher’s more than 15 operating companies — the first initiative of its kind for the organization.

Tasked with sharing Danaher’s vision with over 100 search firms across North America and the EMEA and APAC regions, Chilson has converted many of them to Danaher’s MSA. He credits his success to the relationship-building tactics he’s honed throughout his career and “explaining the bigger picture.” Getting these search firms under contract, he says, has enabled the TA delivery team to deliver “seamless support” to Danaher’s operating companies.

What does the future hold for Chilson and the programs he manages? “In one word: growth,” he says, describing plans to explore the introduction of centralized services elsewhere in the business and to pilot preferred suppliers for certain roles. “There’s always change around us,” he adds. “Even if service-level agreements and key performance indicators are fine, business concerns and worker preferences change — so we have to adapt and evolve.”
