Two years ago, dermatology company Galderma sought to solve fragmentation problems within its contingent workforce supplier base and saw an opportunity to leverage Adriana Jaton Serey’s leadership and four-year history with the organization as a global category manager and advocate. Building the program from the ground up, Jaton Serey has directed focus on obtaining compliance and governance across the company while improving technology stacks.

“I’m really proud because we have managed to get the right focus within Galderma’s temporary workforce,” Jaton Serey explains. “It’s never easy, but I take pride in what we have been able to build as a cross-functional team — as well as going beyond simply contingent labor to managing consultants and independent contractors.” Although she faced some challenges with buy-in, and helped by essential internal sponsorship, those who initially resisted these changes are now advocating for enhancing the solutions Jaton Serey built. “This mindset change is a complete game changer,” she says. Today, thanks in no small part to her efforts, Galderma’s program has roughly 700 contingent workers and 6,000 employees across the globe.

With industry changes such as more job flexibility on the horizon as well as an emphasis on finding the right skills, Jaton Serey believes the future of staffing is trending toward finding projects that genuinely interest potential hires. “It’s a never-ending story, but I think it’s quite a nice one because you always see opportunities to make the industry better,” she says.
