2022 CW Program Game Changers

Golie-Lorenzo “Golie” Green

Senior Manager – Talent Programs, WM

Honoree Profile

Golie-Lorenzo Green loves the people and the culture at WM. “The company walks the talk of putting people first,” he says.

Green is responsible for a $160 million-plus contingent labor program throughout the US and Canada. Within the first six months after joining WM in 2021, while the company was undergoing a significant technology upgrade, he revamped its managed services program, which started with an audit of its suppliers to identify the highest performers and those delivering the best value. As a result, he saved the company money and increased revenue by getting refunds on established contracts.

Green is most proud of WM’s Innovative Employment Pathways program, or IEP, which removes barriers to employment for former inmates, the homeless or disabled, and young and senior workers. Turnover is only 18% annually, compared with a standard 200% in his contingent workforce generally.

Challenged with selling his management on routing HR orders and requisitions through him, Green has won the compliance team by sending savings realized by program participation back to managers’ budgets. In addition, he broke through logjams by setting up Open House Calls to reach over 2,000 program users to respond quickly to local issues. The program has dramatically reduced problems and improved customer service, thus echoing the company goal of putting people first.
