2021 CW Program Game Changers

Dan Carney

Senior Director, Sourcing & Enterprise Services, Pfizer Inc.

Honoree Profile

Dan Carney currently leads the Pfizer sourcing and enterprise services team for HR, professional services and legal with  around $3 billion in spend responsibilities. In a close partnership with internal Pfizer clients, Carney’s team executes key procurement initiatives requiring sourcing, negotiation and contracting support to deliver value to the Pfizer organization. Carney has led a variety of different teams and also has significant operational leadership experience, most recently leading contingent labor operations for Pfizer in the US and Puerto Rico.

Carney is particularly proud of the launch and execution in May 2021 of the Pfizer’s SourceAbled program, which provides contingent labor hiring opportunities to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. “This program provides meaningful employment opportunities for a significantly underrepresented workforce, and is in line with our value of equity in that ‘every person deserves to be seen, heard and cared for,’” says Carney, adding that his team looks forward to creating a best-in-class program for hiring workers with disabilities. In addition, his team led the implementation of an innovative direct sourcing program, yielding double-digit savings, increased supplier diversity spend, and higher retention.

Carney plans to focus on the evolution of Pfizer’s CW program to meet the changing market and needs of the business, expansion of its direct sourcing program to continue to deliver best-in-class service, and the growth of the SourceAbled Program to attract and engage neurodiverse talent to Pfizer.
