Empowering Talent, Enabling Success

Creating a better world while providing limitless opportunities

In 2015, after nearly a decade in the staffing industry, Samay Shah set out to create a firm where individuals could find the best environment and culture to thrive.

“We’ve all had good and bad experiences with our previous employers,” Shah recalls.  “As an entrepreneur at heart, I always aspired to fill the gaps in the world of work— creating a place where everyone feels at home. Without this foundation, attracting top talent for clients becomes elusive. Happiness is paramount; if we fail to keep our customers happy, we’ll fail to succeed.”

Today, Shah’s vision is a reality with ProKatchers, a Delaware-headquartered staffing and recruitment firm. By balancing quality, responsiveness and cost, the company offers a range of tailored solutions, including traditional staffing and recruiting, direct placement and payroll services, and comprehensive workforce solutions for large-scale contract staffing users.

Besides earning an SIA Best Staffing Firms to Work For accolade this year, ProKatchers was also selected as a Randstad SourceRight preferred supplier for the fifth consecutive time.

One Family

For Susan Hornbuckle, VP, business development with more than three decades of industry experience, it’s the people-first ethos that makes ProKatchers a best staffing firm to work for.

Despite her tenure at large organizations with thousands of employees, Hornbuckle often found herself hamstrung by bureaucracy, where swift decisions were anything but swift and her desired impact was stifled.

“Joining ProKatchers [a year ago] was one of the quickest decisions I ever made,” Hornbuckle reminisces. “Working here feels like working in a close-knit family, where every opinion is valued, risks are encouraged and where I know I have the opportunity to make a difference and transform lives.”

This sentiment resonates with Amanda Cornwell, who joined ProKatchers as an account manager in January 2024. “The last organization I worked for was bigger but lacked the essence of relationship building. When interactions become too transactional, the innate connection with clients and customers gradually fades. A lot of companies strip ‘the care’ out of the process,” she says. “ProKatchers, however, sets itself apart because it genuinely cares about everyone, and that’s what feeds my soul because genuine care is rare. It’s not just about numbers for them.”

Cornwell also describes the firm’s distinctive approach to enhancing staffing and performing to the best of its ability, which makes it stand out. “I can vouch for every person in the company I’ve spoken to that ProKatchers values its staff. Most people often just go through the motions, but here, everyone is invested in doing meaningful work, the kind of work where everyone wins, just like a family.”

Focus on Learning, Advancement and Evolution

At the heart of ProKatchers’ company culture lies a commitment to continuous learning and development, a foundation that has helped the firm attract and retain talent, boost employee morale and ensure every team member feels recognized and esteemed.

“There are abundant opportunities for everyone to advance their careers here,” Hornbuckle says. “I have always been intrigued by healthcare staffing, yet such an opportunity never manifested in my previous organizations. Despite their ownership of an MSP, the margins were perpetually thin, prompting my instinctual aversion. However, Samay has ingeniously turned this model into a lucrative venture at ProKatchers, and observing this has imparted invaluable insights.”

Indeed, this emphasis on learning and development has left an indelible mark on the team.

“Our management ensures we’re constantly learning alongside the customers,” Cornwell notes. “They want to do right for us to do things right. By asking the right questions and staying aligned with clients, we learn and evolve together.”

Transparent Communication

Through a culture of transparent communication, ProKatchers empowers its team of 50 recruitment professionals to freely express their opinions and needs.

“I know each person in my firm,” Shah emphasizes. “To maintain personal engagement, we must go the extra mile to let the team know we’re approachable.”

Cornwell, who felt unacknowledged in her former roles, deeply cherishes being seen and heard at ProKatchers. “I know what it feels like to be invisible, to labor tirelessly without acknowledgment because no matter what you did, it never seemed enough,” she reflects. “At ProKatchers, there isn’t a moment when my superior is unavailable for us. The management is not just a call away but here to elevate us.”

Toward a Bright Tomorrow

As ProKatchers forges ahead, the company remains resolute in its commitment to prioritizing quality over quantity, ensuring its people flourish in their careers and attain success across all spheres of life.

“I want to enhance the lives of those at ProKatchers by building their careers where they feel content and accomplished,” Shah asserts. “My passion lies in offering training, particularly to new graduates, equipping them with the requisite skills and tools for success, especially in their first job.”

Recognizing the broader impact of actions, Shah also aims to keep social responsibility at the forefront of ProKatchers’ mission. “Many employers overlook the social responsibility tied to hiring freshers,” he explains. “It’s not merely about hiring ten individuals and retaining the best five while dismissing the others. The ramifications for those five individuals are profound. From a business standpoint, such decisions might seem logical, but there exists an inherent social responsibility. Upholding these principles is imperative to provide a better and brighter tomorrow for one and all.”
