“You can create your own opportunities in this industry,” says Amanda Patrick Davis. Throughout her decade-long tenure, Vaco’s VP of operations and administration has done just that. She got her start in marketing and has since worked in multiple areas, from operations to consulting. “I helped configure our managed services practice for Vaco’s consulting arm. In total, I’ve worked for three of our five brands.” 

Davis believes her front-line experience has proved invaluable in growing her career with Vaco: “I have a solid understanding of how everything works at the delivery level. Whenever we begin any initiative, I always consider the impact on the front end.” Today, Davis puts that knowledge to use in projects that focus on aligning processes and optimizing the company’s tech stack.

One of Davis’ most significant recent achievements is leading the creation of a consultant care program. Describing the initiative as her “passion project,” she explains it’s focused on ensuring all consultants — including those based on client sites — feel involved in the company. “A large part of that is about the way we approach communication and how we interact with consultants,” Davis explains. “It should be frequent and consistent — not just on payday and holidays.”

Reflecting on the support she’s received from Vaco’s senior leadership team, Davis explains, “Vaco has done an amazing job with hiring compassionate leaders. You always have someone on your team, cheering you on.” When it comes to the future, Davis is eager to offer others the same support: “Now, it’s about giving back and being able to mentor other young professionals.”
