Alexandra Szabo

Although Alexandra Szabo has spent the majority of her professional life with Hays, her trajectory hasn’t been as straightforward as one might think. 

Szabo was offered her first job with Hays while working for a door-to-door office supplies sales organization in 2014. “I walked into Hays Canada and delivered my pitch,” she says. “They turned me down — then offered me a job.”

She began as an account manager and, in her first year, earned the Rookie of the Year award for all of Canada. After leaving the organization to finish her law degree and working for a boutique employment law firm, she returned to Hays as a lawyer.

Szabo is a unique asset to the company given the perspective she’s gained from her experience on the sales team and her knowledge of Canadian law. Last summer she won Hays’ Outstanding Contributor in a Non-Fee Earning Role — a national award. “It’s an accomplishment to positively impact a progressive business in a way that it has been recognized across the country,” she says, “and I don’t think a lawyer has ever won that award.”

Szabo is eager to both deepen her involvement within Hays and also to become a legal leader in the staffing and temporary help agency legal landscape. She aims to inspire other lawyers in unique industries. “I hope my journey inspires other legal professionals to explore unconventional opportunities that reflect their backgrounds and passions.”
