Tirranny Nettles

Tirranny Nettles is the director of recruiting at Year Up Professional Resources, or Yupro, where she has been since February of this year. A six-year industry veteran, she previously worked at Consilium Staffing, where she earned the Apprentice of the Year 2022 Award and Recruiter of the Month in 2021.

At Yupro, Nettles has found a vehicle for her passion to put the pieces of the puzzle together and find just the right fit for entry-level talent and young people who typically fall through the cracks in the workforce ecosystem. It gives her great joy to be their advocate; as she says, “Everybody wants to be heard.”

Nettles is persistent in her quest for knowledge. When she doesn’t have an answer for a client, she seeks out someone who does know and learns from them, a trait she attributes to her mother.

Nettles advocates for the staffing industry to shift its focus to skills-based hiring rather than requiring a four-year degree, which tends to rule out a significant population of Latinx and Black people who may not have had the resources for traditional higher education. She also sees herself continuing to be a change agent for the industry and a voice for the community she represents: people of color. “I want a seat at the table to advocate for people who are not being heard.”
