Kyle Decker, CEO of The Job Center Staffing, had plenty of options after graduating from Superbowl champion Ben Roethlisberger’s alma mater, Ohio’s Miami University, where Decker also played quarterback. But he says jumping into the staffing industry as a young leader is the best decision he ever made.

Decker joined the company in 2009 as its third employee. Since then, he has become a co-owner and built the Cincinnati-based, light industrial staffing firm to 20-plus locations and more than 100 employees. The Job Center posted $80 million in top-line revenue last year with a goal of $100 million in 2020. And despite this year’s unforeseen challenges, Decker is confident in a 25% growth year.

In addition, Decker recently launched MOR Talent Solutions, a staffing firm targeting the skilled and technical labor market. The companies are rolled up into the Riley Decker Cos., which Decker co-owns with his father-in-law, Todd Riley.

The firms are active contributors to the greater Cincinnati area, partnering with Lord’s Gym, an outreach program for at-risk individuals. Decker also hosts The Underdog Podcast, where he interviews people - from professional athletes to self-starters - whose stories of overcoming odds translate into the business world.

Decker plans to learn different niches of the industry and grow companies that add value to the Riley Decker platform.

“Something I live by is, ‘You’ve never arrived; you are always
becoming,’” he says. “Staffing is a humble business. If you think you’ve arrived, you will quickly be humbled early on.”
