Bree Sarlati joined Peak Performers, her family’s business, in 2015 and currently shares with her father the title and responsibilities of co-CEO. As Peak is a nonprofit staffing firm employing individuals with disabilities, Sarlati recalls that conversations around the family dinner table often tackled some pretty heady topics - not just business problems, but social problems as well. “I grew up witnessing firsthand the deeper purpose and steadfast social commitment behind the business that my father started. … I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives and the bigger world, but through practical and sustainable efforts,” she says.

Peak Performers was founded in 1994 with the mission of setting a higher standard of employment for individuals with disabilities and chronic medical conditions. Peak’s provides temporary staffing, temp to hire, and direct hire services for administrative, financial, information technology, and other professional positions. Highly skilled job seekers with ADA Amendments Act-qualifying conditions receive job priority for Peak’s positions.

In 2017, Sarlati formed a business development team to actively market Peak’s services across Texas and to a wider range of clients, and expand its service offerings. In the past three years, Peak has shifted to filling almost exclusively professional-level positions. As unemployment numbers had been dropping nationwide, Sarlati says, some companies were showing interest in Peak’s pool of professional candidates with disabilities; she sees this as a great sign and plans to ensure this continues even after the candidate market shifts.
