Mynul Khan knows that when employees are motivated, extraordinary things happen.

After spotting an opportunity to connect skilled contingent workers with businesses across North America, the software engineer and technology evangelist launched Field Nation in 2008 when the gig economy was taking off. Today, the Field Nation platform handles over 1 million work orders each year.

“I wanted to build a purpose-driven company that would have a positive impact on companies and the world’s freelance workforce,” Khan, the company’s founder and CEO, says.

A master at creating line of sight, Khan attributes the disruptive company’s rapid rise to the strong connection between internal employees and those who benefit from the firm’s cutting-edge platform. He also cultivates a culture of trust and empowerment through
financial transparency and open, honest communication. Frontline professionals are fired up by his unpretentious style and practices.

“How senior leaders behave matters,” Khan says. “We’ve been able to attract talented technology professionals who have high ambition and low ego because they’re doing something meaningful.”

With the gig economy growing, Khan is optimistic about the future. “We’re extremely proud to be the frontrunner but that does not mean that we are resting on our laurels. We want to continue to expand our services and have an amazing time doing it,” Khan says.
