We welcome your contributions. Here’s what we’re looking for and how you can become a contributor.
How to Contribute
AUDIENCE
Staffing Stream is read by staffing suppliers, buyers of staffing services and vendors to the industry. Job seekers are not part of the intended audience.
CONTENT
SIA is proud to publish submissions that are relevant to our audience and touch on staffing-related or contingent-workforce issues. They should concisely — in no more than 700 words — inform the audience about an important topic, why it matters and, whenever possible, how your reader should respond. We welcome unusual insights, surprising advice and counterintuitive guidance. Readers love tips, trends, actionable advice, news and insights into developments that move our world.
The piece should reflect an individual’s opinion, view and expertise. Company bylines are not permitted.
- Take a clear position and be willing to go out on a limb with your perspective and invite disagreement. Include real-world examples to support points whenever possible.
- Avoid jargon. Please use words that the average reader can understand, especially when explaining concepts.
- Delve deep. Since our audience consists of seasoned industry professionals, we aim to bring them higher-level content. Assume the readers already have a working knowledge of your topic and avoid very basic and/or surface-level ideas.
- Links. Linking to other websites, sources and resources is encouraged. Do not embed your hyperlinks using word processing programs. Simply place the url in parentheses immediately after the word or phrase that should be linked (http://www.likethis.com). Please do not include links that promote your business or a business partnership with another firm. We reserve the right to remove references that we deem promotional.
- Exclusivity. The article must be exclusive to Staffing Stream and should not have been shopped or published elsewhere.
- Length. Ideal length is 400 to 600 words. We ask that you not go over 700 words. Excessively long posts may be broken up into a multi-part series.
- Publication-ready. Submissions are expected to be free of errors and ready for publication.
NO SALES
Content that is self-promotional (even subtly) or construed as such will be rejected. These pieces should not be veiled ads for a company. Any potential conflict of interest that would cast doubt on the credibility of your article or Staffing Stream must be disclosed upfront. SIA may at its discretion include a disclosure in the published piece or choose not to accept the article.
HOW TO SUBMIT
Please complete the form below. SIA’s editors will respond with further information.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Submissions typically are published within two weeks of submission. Our editors will reach out before two weeks if there are questions, if extensive revisions are required or to provide a publication date and link.
EDITING
Contributions are expected to be ready for publication, including copyediting and fact-checking on your end. Provide links to your sources.
SIA will have the final say in the shape the piece takes. SIA reserves the right to edit submissions. In the instance of extremely heavy edits by our editors, contributors will get one read-back after first edit. All other editing/copyediting decisions (including headlines, length, captions, etc.) will be made by Staffing Industry Analysts. Once an item is live on the site, stylistic changes and tweaks to the copy will not be made. We reserve the right to remove overly promotional language or links.
POST-PUBLICATION
You are encouraged to promote your Staffing Stream contribution. You can write about your contribution or share an excerpt and link on LinkedIn or other social channels.
Please be mindful of SIA’s Acceptable Use Policy:
You may repost up to two lines from the article. Only those two lines from the Staffing Stream article should be visible on your site.
