San Francisco, Seattle and New York account for 44% of AI jobs

Top locations for tech jobs included the San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle and New York, according to an analysis by CBRE, a commercial real estate firm. Those three areas alone accounted for 44% of the 285,235 AI tech jobs in the US.
Here is CBRE’s list of markets with the most AI jobs:

- Los Angeles/Orange County, 13,605
- Boston, 12,968

- Washington, DC, 11,654
- Dallas/Fort Worth, 8,397

- Chicago, 7,248
- Vancouver, Canada, 6,880
- Atlanta, 6,249
CBRE’s report covers 75 North American markets. Overall, it noted the US and Canada added 231,500 net tech talent jobs in 2023 across hubs such as the San Francisco Bay Area, New York, Seattle and Vancouver, Canada, as well as smaller markets such as Huntsville, Alabama; Colorado Springs, Colorado; and the Waterloo region in Canada.
It also noted that AI’s share of total US tech talent rose to 14.3% in June 2024 from 8.8% in late 2019, based on Lightcast data.
