IT staffing revenue may be set for flat second half
Main article
IT staffing revenue appears set to stabilize or level out in the second half of this year, according to several data sources.
IT staffing firms in their latest earnings reports noted stabilizing trends in their businesses and expect a leveling out — or flatness — to continue in the second half. SIA’s Pulse Survey report also points to a recent stabilization in IT staffing.
SIA has also seen some of that recent stabilization in its Pulse Survey reports.
June IT staffing revenue was flat year over year on a median basis and has been since December 2023, according to the latest Pulse Survey Report released in July. However, a net 15% of IT staffing companies reported an increase in new orders in the last three months — the highest since mid-2022. With new orders picking up a bit, the second half of the year could see some small growth.
Still, data tracked by the TechServe Alliance found that IT employment in July was roughly flat sequentially, down just 0.01%. The organization’s analysis also found that IT employment was down just 0.3% year over year, a continuing sideways trend in their data with no clear signs of meaningful revenue growth soon.
SIA’s September forecast will take these and other trends into account to determine when IT staffing revenue might start to trend upward.
Additionally, SIA’s September US Pulse Survey (click Survey Participation to participate) will be released by the end of the month. This will shed light on how the second half is starting.
