Revenue at Cross Country Healthcare (NASDAQ: CCRN) fell 25.1% year over year in the fourth quarter to $309.9 million. However, revenue reached the high end of the $300 million to $310 million guidance provided with the prior quarter’s results.

Nurse and allied staffing revenue fell 30% at the Boca Raton, Florida-based healthcare staffing provider, while physician staffing revenue rose 13%.

The firm noted fourth quarter top-line performance was driven by continued strength in its non-travel businesses such as physician staffing, education and homecare.

“As we await the closing of the pending transaction with Aya Healthcare, which we currently expect to occur in the second half of the year, we continue on our path of delivering clinical excellence in order to meet our clients’ needs in this dynamic and highly competitive market,” President and CEO John A. Martins said in a press release.

Stockholders recently approved the $615 million deal to be acquired by Aya, which was first announced in December 2024.

In Cross Country’s nurse and allied staffing segment, average field contract personnel on a full-time equivalent basis came in at 7,621, down from 9,570 in the 2023 fourth quarter and 7,660 in the 2024 third quarter. Revenue per FTE per day was $363, down from $414 in the year-ago quarter and $373 in the most recent quarter.

In physician staffing, total days filled rose to 25,427, as compared with 23,578 in the prior year and 24,424 in the prior quarter. Revenue per day filled was $2,085, up from $1,988 in the prior year and $2,058 in the prior quarter.
