Uber, Lyft face trial in Massachusetts misclassification lawsuit

Uber Technologies and Lyft headed to trial May 13 in a misclassification lawsuit brought by the Massachusetts attorney general, CNN reported. The lawsuit asks a federal judge to rule that Uber and Lyft drivers are employees under state law and therefore eligible for benefits such as minimum wage, overtime and earned sick time. The rideshare companies argue they are not transportation companies that employ drivers but operate apps that connect drivers with riders.
