Edmonton’s community services committee voted to create the Access Without Fear policy, according to the Edmonton Sun. The policy, if approved by the city council, would prevent city staff from asking for or sharing information on immigration status, and ensure basic services can be accessed by those with few documents. Many temporary foreign workers saw their permits lapse after the Canadian Government instituted a four-year cap on such workers. That cap has since been lifted.

British Columbia’s NDP government plans to establish a temporary foreign worker registry aimed at developing a labor-market policy, the Globe and Mail reports.
