  • In this 2021 Update, we report the developments taking place in data privacy and cybersecurity law around the world over the past year.

  • Many countries are bringing their laws into line with international standards as set by Europe’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including Canada, Ecuador, China, Indonesia and Thailand. The European Commission has decided the UK laws offer adequate protection to allow transfers of data between the EU and UK.

  • US states forge ahead with comprehensive privacy laws as federal government considers its own draft bill.
