COVID 19 Impact Assessment on the Workforce Solutions Ecosystem

The COVID-19 crisis has had a sudden and dramatic impact on all areas of global commerce and public sector services. The staffing industry and its wider ecosystem are, by no means immune from this impact.
For most segments, the short-term impact is very negative, but this is by no means universal. Some segments will likely feel no impact while some are even moderately positive.
This report takes a high level view of the current impact of the COVID-19 crisis across the whole workforce solutions ecosystem as well as those companies that supply services to the staffing industry, a total of 59 different segments.

John Nurthen manages the team that delivers international research content for Staffing Industry Analysts (SIA). He has over 30 years of experience in the staffing industry, having previously worked in senior managerial roles for three of the world’s largest staffing companies: Select Appointments, Vedior and Randstad. He played an active role in major equity offerings and mergers. Nurthen was a founder of the International Review of Employment, published in four languages, as well as DOVA, one of the largest global databases of online vacancies. He played a leading role in the development of common data standards with the creation of Human Resources Extensible Markup Language (HR-XML) Staffing Industry Data Exchange Standards (SIDES). Nurthen has been responsible for internal and external communications, e-business, technology matters, marketing, research, procurement and corporate social responsibility. Nurthen’s experience makes him an authority on global recruitment and contingent workforce issues. He lives in a small village in North Hertfordshire, UK with his wife, a wood-fired oven and two Gretsch drum kits.
