The Illinois Department of Labor announced last month that companies contracting with day and temporary labor agencies for their staffing needs must first check if the agencies are licensed by the state.
Companies contracting with unregistered day and temporary labor agencies can face penalties of up to $500 per day, according to the department.
A list of agencies that are currently registered is available here.
Companies must verify if a staffing agency is registered with the Illinois Department of Labor before they enter into a contract and two additional times each year - March 1 and Sept. 1.
