Randstad Technologies, the fourth-largest IT staffing provider in the US, named a chief client officer and chief delivery officer among executive changes, the company announced Jan. 16.It appointed Alisia Genzler as president and chief client officer. Genzler has more than 20 years of experience, and her previous role was executive VP for the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions.

CIOs will need to adopt a dual role with an increasing shift toward becoming a "partner-liaison" for tech initiatives outside core IT's traditional domain, according to research from TEKsystems.According to data gathered in conjunction with TEKsystems 2018 IT Forecast, trends indicate new initiatives still owned by core IT are being increasingly outsourced, accompanied by an upswing in tech initiatives being directed by other internal lines-of-business.

Kranect, a Denver-based IT staffing firm, was sold effective Jan. 1 to KORE1, an Irvine, Calif.-based provider of IT, creative and engineering staffing. Kranect's CEO and founder, Rolf Kramer, is taking on the role of managing partner at KORE1, leading the company's new Colorado operations.Kramer has more than 20 years of experience in the staffing industry and founded Kranect in 2012."This acquisition represents an exciting new era for the Denver tech industry," Kramer said.

Computer science majors from the class of 2018 have a projected average starting salary of $66,005, the second-highest of all majors, according to a report by the National Association of Colleges and Employers. Engineering majors have highest projected starting salary at $66,521.Both fields are up less than 1% from last year.Data for the report came from NACE's Winter 2018 Salary Survey, which included 196 survey responses collected between Aug. 9 and Dec. 4 in the US.Click on table to enlarge.

More than half of IT employers expect to increase headcount in 2018, according to the 2018 US Salary Guide from Hays plc, the world's sixth-largest staffing firm. However, new technology is outpacing training, causing a tech skills shortage that is affecting three-quarters of IT employers.The survey found 44% of employers increased full time headcount in 2017 and 51% said they will increase headcount again in 2018.

Insight Global, the third-largest IT staffing provider in the US, promoted Bert Bean to CEO from his previous role as president. Founder and former CEO Glenn Johnson will remain as executive chairman."Bert Bean is absolutely the right person for the job," Johnson said. "Bert and I have worked closely, and he has been preparing for this opportunity for the past several years.
