Volt Information Sciences Inc. (NYSE MKT: VISI) appointed a new CFO, naming Paul Tomkins to the post. Tomkins had served as CFO at The Reader’s Digest Association since May 2011 prior to joining Volt, the 12th-largest US staffing firm.
“Paul is an experienced and talented leader whose track record demonstrates not only his keen understanding of business and finance, but also his ability to deliver strategic change,” said President and CEO Ron Kochman.
Prior to Reader’s Digest, Tomkins spent 27 years at AT&T. His last role at the telecommunications giant was as VP and controller of AT&T Business Solutions. Tomkins is also a certified public accountant. He earned his MBA from Seton Hall University and bachelor’s degree in accounting from Rider College.
“Volt is at an important point in its development and I look forward to the opportunity to contribute to the company’s future success,” Tomkins said. “It is clear that we have an opportunity to enhance shareholder value considerably as we work to achieve a more highly focused and profitable Volt in the years ahead.”
Former CFO James Whitney Mayhew stepped down for personal reasons effective March 20. Whitney joined the company in 2010 and took on the CFO role in 2011.
Volt also recently reported net revenue fell 9.1% to $383.1 million in its fiscal first quarter ended Feb. 1. And the company struck a deal to revamp its board.
