Staffing Industry Analysts published the full results of its 2018 US Allied Health and Advanced Practice Staffing Benchmarking Survey to its 16 respondent firms, representing a total of $512 million in allied health staffing revenue reported for the first half of 2018 ($1.024 billion on an annualized basis). This represents approximately 25% of the total US allied healthcare temporary staffing market, by SIA's estimate.

Number of registered nurses needed in US to jump 28%

The number of registered nurses needed in the US by the year 2030 is estimated to skyrocket 28.4%, to 3.6 million, according to research released by RegisteredNursing.org. While most states are projected to keep up with demand, many places are expected to have significant shortages in registered nurses.California tops the list with an estimated 44,500 deficit in registered nurses, nearly three times the projected deficit in the next-shortest state.

Aya Healthcare, a provider of travel nursing and workforce solutions to hospitals, acquired Qualivis, a hospital staffing provider based in Columbia, SC.Qualivis taps a network of staffing agencies to provide workforce solutions to hospitals through state hospital associations. It works with hospital associations in 13 states and nearly 400 healthcare providers.The transaction closed Oct. 15; terms were not disclosed.

Healthcare jobs rose more than 18% in the past decade, and in 2017 had an average annual wage of $57,200, according to a report release last week by the Office of the New York State Comptroller.The number of healthcare jobs exceeded 1.2 million in 2017."Year in and year out, healthcare has been a growth sector for jobs in New York over the past decade," State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli said.
