Jas Merrick describes her entrance into the staffing industry as an “accident,” but 15 years later, it’s become abundantly clear that it was certainly a serendipitous and happy one. Today, as director of client delivery for Allegis Global Solutions (AGS), Merrick leads a global team of approximately 50 people to support one of AGS’ largest clients. Merrick assumed this role in 2022 after leading AGS’ implementation team for seven years - a successful transition that she cites as one of her biggest achievements. Within five months, Merrick was able to propel competitively sourced activity to 96% from 47%, yielding the client $15 million in savings.
While there are countless achievements to choose from when highlighting Merrick’s contributions to the industry, she’s most proud of her work in the diversity space. She currently serves as the executive sponsor for AGS’ Empower employee resource group, focused on driving advancement through Black excellence. “We know, just strictly from a success perspective, diverse companies do better,” Merrick says. “But I also think there’s a responsibility and a duty to ensure organizations view DE&I as a business imperative and an essential part of workforce strategy.”
A self-described “type A firstborn,” Merrick says she’s driven by a sense of accomplishment, continuous learning, opening doors for others and the tangible impact she can make in this role - for her clients, for AGS and for the industry as a whole. Looking ahead, she sets her eyes on bigger roles with even more opportunities for driving change, impacting careers and helping organizations commit to driving equity at every angle.
