Day labor operator pleads guilty to tax evasion in Pennsylvania

September 22, 2014

An operator of a day labor firm pleaded guilty to tax evasion and faces up to five years in prison, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced. Howard Ginting, 30, of Harrisburg, Penn., failed to pay $216,000 in Social Security and Medicare taxes.

Ginting was the sole owner of Ginting Enterprises Inc., a supplier of day laborers, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Ginting claimed he only paid wages of $68,549 between October 2006 and February 2008 when he actually paid wages of $851,553.

The U.S. Attorney’s office reported Ginting also operated his firm under the name Trojan Services Inc. and also failed to report all wages from February 2008 through May 2011.

Ginting was indicted in January following an IRS investigation. In addition to prison, he faces a $250,000 fine and up to three years supervised release after prison.
