Dear Reader, Want to hire great people? Get on the Best Staffing Firms to Work For list. It is the ultimate report card on how you treat your employees.

Being named Best Place to Work makes it easier for a company to attract and retain top talent.

Let me throw out some numbers. Ninety-two percent of companies that show up on a Best Places to Work list get seven times more qualified résumés per job posting than companies that don’t, according to a study done by Quantum Workplace. Staffing Industry Analysts partnered with Quantum Workplace on this year’s contest.

As I handed awards to the winners at the Executive Forum in Orlando, I was struck by the fervor this contest created. And there’s a snowballing effect. Winning the award generates feelings of pride in a company, leading to higher productivity, which in turn leads to higher gross margins. Companies that are honored with a Best Places to Work distinction also tend to have better attendance, lower medical costs, resulting from fewer stress-related illnesses and fewer on-the-job accidents, higher levels of autonomy, innovation and risk taking and higher customer satisfaction. They also are better prepared to weather economic downturns, according to the Great Place to Work Institute.

The list of benefits continues. Winning such an award also can make it easier to keep your existing clients and land new ones. People tend to trust companies that make such lists. And of course there’s the marketing advantage. So be sure to enter the coming year’s Best Places to Work For competition.
