Thompson Technologies, an Atlanta-based IT staffing firm, appointed former Mitchell Martin executive Amy Vasquez as its new president and chief operating officer. She replaced Tim Smith, who has served as president since 2007, effective Sept. 8.

“The timing was right for Tim to step away from Thompson Technologies and spend more time with his family,” said Vice President and CFO Jim Calise. “Tim played a major role in deciding who his successor would be, and he recommended Amy to take the position.”

Vasquez most recently served as president of Mitchell Martin Inc., a New York-based provider of IT and healthcare staffing. Prior to Mitchell Martin, she held executive roles with Strategic Staffing Solutions, MDI Group and Spherion.
