US tech jobs rise for 17th month

The number of U.S. information technology jobs rose in April to more than 4.4 million, an increase of 0.24 percent from the previous month, according to the TechServe Alliance. IT employment has risen by 5.1 percent compared to April 2012.

IT employment has been rising steadily since November 2011.

“With April’s numbers, IT employment has grown for the 17th consecutive month, hitting yet another all-time high,” TechServe Alliance CEO Mark Roberts said. “IT continues to handily outperform most other sectors with an annual growth rate of more than three times the growth rate of the general workforce.”
