CEO of CDI steps down

CDI Corp. (NYSE: CDI) President and CEO Paulett Eberhart stepped down upon the completion of her contract, the company announced. Eberhart is leaving the firm to pursue other, non-competitive, business interests; however, she will provide consulting services CDI through the end of the year.

Eberhart joined CDI in January 2011 as CEO. She had served as chairman and CEO of HMS Ventures, a privately held real estate and consulting services firm immediately prior to joining CDI. Eberhart also spent 26 years at Electronic Data Systems Corporation, a firm that has since been acquired by Hewlett-Packard. She is also a certified public accountant.

Staffing Industry Analysts had named Eberhart one of the Staffing 100.

CDI named Robert Larney as interim president and CEO while the board searches for a permanent replacement. Larney had been serving as executive vice president and CFO.

Philadelphia-based CDI Corp. ranks as the fifth-largest U.S. engineering staffing firm and the 13th-largest U.S. IT staffing firm.

“In her time as CEO, Paulett set a new strategic direction, restored profitability, improved the balance sheet, and strengthened the cash position of CDI,” said Walter Garrison, board chairman and founder of the company. “In recent months, Paulett and the executive leadership team have put in place a strategic direction and structure that moves our organization forward by improving accountability and further optimizing the cost structure.”

The company in December announced plans to cut staff and consolidate facilities as part of a restructuring in January designed to save the company $11 million to $13 million this year. Philip Clark, executive vice president of global business development and operations, will leave the company effective March 31 as part of the realignment.
