The number of healthcare and social assistance jobs in Canada fell 0.6 percent in September from the previous month, a decline of 12,300 jobs, according to the most recent seasonally adjusted numbers from Statistics Canada. However, the number of jobs in the industry group was still up 38,800 when compared to September 2012.

There were a total of 2.18 million healthcare and social assistance jobs in Canada in September.

Overall, the number of jobs in all industries in Canada rose 1.2 percent.
