AMN investing $5 million in telepharmacy firm

AMN Healthcare Services Inc. (NYSE: AHS), the largest U.S. healthcare staffing firm, made a $5 million investment in telepharmacy provider PipelineRx. The firm offers a telepharmacy service and technology solutions to help hospitals provide cost-efficient pharmacist coverage 24 hours a day. PipelineRx’s clinical process outsourcing solution uses a private network of clinical telepharmacists to mirror the roles of onsite clinical pharmacists at hospitals.

Denise Jackson, AMN’s general counsel and senior vice president, joined the PipelineRx board of directors.

“Our investment in PipelineRx is a testament to our commitment to investing in innovative solutions to help clients manage their workforce and patient care commitments in the wake of unprecedented changes in the healthcare environment,” said AMN President and CEO Susan Salka. “PipelineRx's telepharmacy offerings address significant healthcare access challenges in a cost-effective manner and increase the quality and safety of care delivered. We look forward to working closely with PipelineRx to further its mission and identify ways that AMN can leverage our pharmacy staffing division and client relationships to create synergies for both companies.”

PipelineRx is privately held and based in San Francisco.
