GE to buy staffing software provider

API Healthcare, a healthcare industry workforce management software and analytics provider, is being acquired by GE. API is known in staffing for providing front-office software for healthcare staffing firms.

The sale to GE is set to close in the first quarter, and terms of the transaction were not announced. The acquisition is still subject to regulatory approval.

API provides staffing and scheduling, patient classification, human resources, talent management, payroll, time and attendance, business analytics, and staffing agency offerings. It is used by more than 1,600 hospitals and staffing firms in the U.S.

“This acquisition will bring API Healthcare’s complementary offerings together with one of the world’s leading healthcare companies to help customers make data-driven decisions on staffing and operations,” said J.P. Fingado, president and CEO, API Healthcare. “As the demands of an aging population increase and the greater challenges associated with a changing workforce take hold, operations efficiency has never been more important. We are excited to expand our capabilities and address customers’ toughest challenges together with GE.”

API acquired Clearview Staffing Software back in 2009. The company was almost sold to Kronos Inc. in 2011, but that deal was called off.
