Cross Country CCO urges Florida to join Nurse Licensure Compact

Cross Country Healthcare Inc. (NASD: CCRN) Chief Clinical Officer Henry “Hank” Drummond will appear before the Florida House of Representatives to present the case for Florida to join the Nurse Licensure Compact.

Currently, 25 states are part of the Nurse Licensure Compact, which allows nurses to have one multistate license, with the ability to practice in both their home state and other compact states.

“Because Florida is a ‘snowbird state,’ we see large patient-census fluctuations in our hospitals and healthcare systems,” Drummond said. “This will alleviate the burden that the uptick in patients puts on full-time, permanent staff.”

Public protection also benefits because states in the compact are able to share more completely, more fully and more timely information about nurses holding a compact license, according to Drummond.

The Florida House of Representatives will put to vote the possibility of Florida joining the Nurse Licensure Compact.
