ACS Acquires Large IT Staffing Provider

American CyberSystems Inc. last week reported it acquired substantially all of the assets of the staffing business of Comforce in a deal that will expand ACS’ capabilities in information technology, engineering, healthcare and government staffing. Comforce ranks No. 71 on Staffing Industry Analysts’ 2012 list of largest U.S. staffing firms with estimated staffing revenue of $170 million.

ACS ranks No. 76 on the list of largest U.S. staffing firms, with estimated U.S. staffing revenue of $152 million.

“We acquired Comforce to expand our size, and it’s going to expand our size considerably,” said ACS Executive Vice President Charles Halash. “We are going to close to, basically, double our overall size with this acquisition. … We’re going to be, once everything is integrated, pushing a $400 million company in total revenue.”

The Comforce acquisition adds resources in Africa, South America, Europe, and throughout Asia and the Middle East, Halash said.

“Not only do we service all states, but we also service 22 countries with this acquisition because Comforce has a very aggressive and progressive healthcare services staffing group that works with a couple of different U.S. governmental entities that provide these resources in other countries in all five continents,” he said.

Alison Gross, executive vice president, will continue to lead the Comforce staffing division.

Comforce was a publicly traded company until late 2010 when it was acquired by private equity firm ABRY Partners for $84.8 million, FOXBusiness reports.

The firm is the most recent acquisition for ACS, which last month acquired CrossUSA, an information technology outsourcing solutions provider leveraging U.S.-based rural development centers. ACS also owns HireGenics Inc., which provides automated payroll services, MSP services and procurement strategies.

“We’re always looking at good acquisitions that are going to create value for our customers, and obviously value for the company,” said Halash. “If there is value that we can create for the customer, we definitely will be continuing to look for other acquisitions.”
