Unemployment Benefits Awarded to Independent Contractor

Heather Rowan’s employer laid her off, and then suggested she could earn more money as an independent contractor. When she turned down a job at rate that was below what she expected, she saw no more job offers and applied for unemployment insurance. While her claim at first was denied, she was awarded unemployment insurance compensation on appeal. Read more here.
