The worker at a Wal-Mart in Long Island who died after being trampled by shoppers when the store opened the day after Thanksgiving was a temporary worker employed through an employment agency, The Associated Press reported. The man, Jdimytai Damour, was doing maintenance work at the store. The Associated Press said Damour had no crowd control experience, but was put at the door because he was 6 feet 5 and 270 pounds.
Approximately 2,000 shoppers poured into the store during its 5 a.m. opening, and left a portion of a metal door crumpled, according to the report. Damour was trampled as the shoppers surged into the store.
The New York Times reported Damour got the job at Wal-Mart through an employment agency called Labor Now.
