Two executives of West Virginia staffing firm Career Search One Inc. pleaded guilty to federal employment tax evasion charges for failure to pay more than $600,000 in taxes, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced. Each face up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine when they are sentenced on Sept. 4.
Pleading guilty were Daniel Hovis, 60, who served as president of Career Search One, and Janice Hensley, 63, vice president of the firm, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Both worked at the company’s location in Charleston, W. Va.
The defendants failed to report $630,158 in employment taxes to the IRS from 2004 through the first quarter of 2010 and used the money for their personal expenses, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
