Online staffing firm hires former eBay attorney

Online staffing firm oDesk named Brian Levey as its general counsel effective immediately. Levey formerly headed up the corporate and legal operations team of more than 30 professionals at eBay Inc.

Levey will lead oDesk’s legal affairs function and help scale the company’s global footprint.

“We are thrilled to welcome Brian to the oDesk team,” said oDesk CEO Gary Swart. “His breadth of legal knowledge coupled with his business experience working with both established and startup companies, especially market-leading online platforms, make him a great match for our dynamic business and will help guide us as we change the way the world is working.”

Levey served several roles at eBay including vice president, deputy general counsel, corporate and assistant secretary at eBay. He provided legal insight to more than 80 strategic acquisitions and investments while at eBay, including PayPal, Skype, StubHub and more. Levey was at eBay for 13 years and served in a leadership role at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. prior to eBay. He holds a law degree from Stanford Law School
