Economic activity in the non-manufacturing sector grew at a faster rate in January than December, according to the Institute for Supply Management’s non-manufacturing index, released today.
The index rose to a reading of 56.8 in January from December’s revised reading of 53.0. Readings above 50 indicate growth.
The employment portion of the index edged up to 57.4 in January from 49.8 in December.
