Nevada is the fastest-growing state, with a population increase of 2.9% between July 1, 2006, and July 1, 2007, the U.S. Census Bureau reported today. Arizona, the fastest-growing state in the previous year, fell to second place.
Texas gained 500,000 people in that time period, the most of any state. California added the second most just over 300,000.
Louisiana gained almost 50,000 people in the same period; it had lost 250,000 people in the prior year.
