Job seekers’ confidence index spikes

April 28 2014

Job seekers’ overall confidence in finding new employment spiked in March, with the largest jump seen in professionals seeking jobs in the healthcare industry, according to the job search confidence index released today by StartWire, an Internet job site.

The index has been on a slight upward trajectory in 2014, but noticeably increased in March, according to StartWire. The index now stands at a reading of 53.69, up from 50.95 in February. The index sits on a scale of 0 to 100, with scores greater than 50 indicating a strong belief amongst job seekers that they will find a job within the next 45 days and a score below 50 indicating the opposite.

Looking specifically at healthcare professionals, the index climbed to 57.31 in March from 51.28 in February.

“Job seeker confidence notably increased in March, but we are seeing the largest spikes in positive outlook from healthcare professionals,” said StartWire CEO Chris Forman. “With healthcare demands growing and professionals feeling optimistic about securing employment, all signs point to a stronger healthcare job market.”
