Index of Staffing Prices Jumps

August 14 2012

The U.S. producer price index for employment services rose to a reading of 126.7 in July, up 1.3 percent from the same month last year, according to preliminary data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics that was not seasonally adjusted. The 1.3 percent increase was the largest year-over-year increase recorded in the past 12 months.

The index tracks the change in price received by service producers over time. The change in price is measured from the perspective of the seller.

The employment services industry includes employment placement agencies, temporary help services, executive search services and professional employer organizations.

Employment services is just one industry tracked by producer price indexes.
