U.S. staffing companies employed an average of 3.0 million temporary and contract workers per week in 2013, up 4.0 percent from 2012, according to data released by the American Staffing Association.
Over the course of 2013, staffing firms hired a total of 11.0 million temporary and contract employees.
In the fourth quarter of 2013, average daily staffing employment totaled 3.2 million workers per week, up 3.8 percent from the fourth quarter of 2012 and an increase of 6.1 percent from the fourth quarter of 2012.
The ASA staffing employment and sales survey is conducted on a quarterly basis, covering approximately 10,000 establishments.
