Mass layoffs increase in June

Mass layoffs rose in June to 1,647, up by 235, or 16.6%, from May, according to seasonally adjusted numbers released today by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The number of initial claims for unemployment insurance resulting from mass layoffs rose by 9,749, or 7.2%, in June to 145,538.
