The U.S. real gross domestic product rose at an annual rate of 0.9% in the first quarter, according to a new, preliminary estimate released by the U.S. Department of Commerce. That's an increase over an earlier estimate of 0.6%. Real GDP increased at an annual rate of 0.6% in the fourth quarter.
