Healthcare Industry Evolution Is Good News for All

So much is still being said about the Affordable Care Act that people are glazing over some important realities.

In 2014, 13 million more people under the age of 65 are becoming insured. And by 2023 that number will increase to 25 million. Beyond the excitement and demand that these increased numbers will generate, what is critical is that healthcare staffing firms have to succeed in an environment where the focus is on the quality of patient care.

It’s goodbye to a volume-driven payment model and hello to a more caring, value-driven agenda that both buyers and suppliers of healthcare staffing have to subscribe to. Staffing Industry Analysts’ Healthcare Staffing Summit in Chicago this week focuses on this theme and what the implications of the ACA will mean for the industry.

The rapidly changing regulatory landscape is complicating the decision-making process for healthcare buyers while the war for talent rages. The acute shortage of healthcare professionals will force staffing firms to create a culture of value that is critical to worker retention. Buyers at the same time will have to ensure that their contingents are feeling appreciated and are engaged. There will be a fundamental shift in how business is conducted. All of this in turn will have a direct connection to how patients feel.
