The importance of coaching temps in the interview process

OfficeTeam, a division of Robert Half International Inc., reported the results of a survey asking executives to describe the most embarrassing job interviews they had witnessed or heard about. Some of the highlights include:
-"The person was dancing during the interview. He kept saying things like, 'I love life!' and 'Oh yeah!'"
-"We had one person who walked out of an interview into a glass door - and the glass shattered."
-"An interviewee put his bubble gum in his hand, forgot about it, and then shook my hand."
-"The candidate got his companies confused and repeatedly mentioned the strengths of a competing firm, thinking that's who he was interviewing with."

When your temporary workers are interviewing, it's not just their interview that matters - your reputation as a quality staffing provider is on the line. To avoid these kinds of gaffes, coaching temps in the interview process may help.

The 2007 Staffing Buyers Survey by Staffing Industry Analysts found that 93% of staffing buyers interview at least some candidates. In particular, 20% interview all candidates, 25% said they interview top candidates, while 30% said they interview candidates based on the level of the position.
