Staffing Industry Analysts Report Ranks Top 25 Job Boards in the World

Mountain View, Calif. – June 30, 2015 – Staffing Industry Analysts, the leading global advisor on contingent work, recently identified the 25 largest global job boards. Recruit topped the list with $2,253 million in revenue, followed by LinkedIn with $1,328 million and Monster with $770 million. Of the top 10 firms, five are headquartered in the U.S., but the other five are located in five different countries around the world.

The top 10 global job boards are:

Ranking Company 2014 Annual Revenue

1 Recruit 2,253 Japan
2 LinkedIn 1,328 U.S.
3 Monster 770 U.S.
4 Gannet Media 713 U.S.

Recruit, the number one ranked company, is an HR company headquartered in Japan and operates a number of job boards in Japan and other countries, including Indeed, which the company purchased in 2012. The largest job boards have an international presence and enjoy market-leading positions in a number of countries, but there are still strong national players such as Headhunter in Russia and 104 Corporation in Taiwan, with commanding positions in these markets. While most job boards cover multiple job disciplines, the report noted that many are focused on a particular sector like engineering and finance, and some effectively target specific worker types including recent graduates and people with disabilities

“As part of our research we identified large job boards with a combined revenue in excess of $7.8 billion U.S. dollars,” said John Nurthen, Staffing Industry Analysts executive director of global research. “Based on the best available information, we estimate the global market to be between $10 and $20 billion.”

Job Boards have their origins in the very early days of the internet, but revenue models have evolved from the late 1980s and now go much further than the classic job advertising model. According to the report, job boards themselves have also evolved and successful new job boards include job aggregators and job distributors as well as the social media giant LinkedIn.
